Sauromatum venosum, known as the voodoo lily, is an aroid with unusual mottled violet and yellow malodorous inflorescence in spring followed by large leaves with mottled stems to 24" x-24". This is a very striking plant and happily the noxious odor the flower exudes is short-lived, making it a conversation piece in the woodland garden. Grow in light shade in fertile, moist, well-drained soil or container. Fully deciduous, the tuber can be left in the ground in our area if grown in well-drained soil or dug and stored in a dry, frost free place in winter. Hardy to -10 degrees F. Araceae. Also known as Typhonium venosum.
