Roscoea purpurea



Roscoea purpurea is easy to grow species and a beautiful hardy ginger that has stout stems with large, showy purple flowers in mid to late summer. Variable in size from 6-16″, it grows in many garden settings from shade to sun if provided moderately fertile soil, regular water and a cool location. This Himalayan native occurrs in a wide range of habitats. Roscoeas are the hardiest members of the true ginger family and are solidly hardy and easy to grow in our Zone 8 climate.
