Primula capitata ssp mooreana

Primula capitata ssp mooreana is a distinctive primrose with silvery farina on the flowering stalk and flower buds and a flowering head with dark violet flowers around the edges while the farina covered flower buds at the center fail to develop.  It flowers in late summer and forms tufts of silver backed, dentate foliage.  Individual plants are often short-lived but will self sow and persist when grown in drifts.   The resulting plants should be true to species since it does not hybridize with other primroses.  8 x 12"  Grow in cool sun to partial shade in moderately fertile, moist soil.  Hardy to –20 degrees F.   Native to Sikkim.  Primulaceae
