Penstemon rupicola – Gifford Pinchot

This is a nice form of the cliff penstemon, Penstemon rupicola, from Gifford Pinchon National Forest in Washington State and given to us by Jane McGary who had grown it for many years in her rock garden.  It is a very attractive mat-forming penstemon with olive-green foliage and vivid pink flowers on short stems in summer.  It can be grown in sun or part sun in rocky, very well-drained soil with low water.   Hardy to -20 degrees F. Scrophulariaceae
