Penstemon pinifolius ‘Magdalena Sunshine’

Penstemon-pinifolius-Magdalena-Sunshine

Penstemon pinifolius ‘Magdalena Sunshine’ is a fine yellow flowering pine needle penstemon discovered by our friend Jay Lunn while traveling through the Magdalena Mountains of New Mexico when the bright yellow flowers along a roadside caught his eye.  It is a very compact evergreen subshrub 6″ x 12” with needle-like leaves and bright yellow flowers in summer.  It is distinctly more compact than the other named yellow form, ‘Mersea Yellow” both of which are more compact than the species.  Grow in full sun in well-drained soil with low to moderate water. Hardy to -10 degrees F. Scrophulariaceae
