Penstemon davidsonii var davidsonii


Penstemon davidsonii var davidsonii, Davidson’s penstemon, is a mat-forming, evergreen subshrub with small, rounded leaves, rooting stems and large lavender to purple flowers in late spring to early summer.  Makes a nice evergreen groundcover in the low water garden.  Grow in full sun to part shade in very well-drained soil. Quite drought tolerant.   Hardy to –10 degrees F. Rocky outcroppings mid to high elevations in the Cascades.  Scrophulariaceae
