Penstemon confertus, yellow penstemon, is a mat-forming perennial with pale yellow flowers on spikes up to 16” tall in spring. It has grown well in both our unirrigated and occasionally irrigated gardens. Sun to part shade, well-drained soil, low to moderate water. Found in moist to dry meadows and open woodlands at low to mid-elevations in from Eastern Oregon north to BC and east to Montana. Hardy to -30 degrees F. Scrophulariaceae
