Leontopodium alpinum is the traditional Edelweiss found in the Swiss Alps.  It is a clump forming perennial with white, felt-like leaves and white star shaped flowers July-Sept. Grow in sun to part shade  in very well drained soil.  It tends to be a short-lived perennial but can be divided to renew.  Grow in the rock garden, raised bed or alpine house. Hardy to –30 degrees F. Alps. Asteraceae
