Iris unguicularis, the winter blooming or Algerian iris, produces fragrant, blue-lavender flowers in winter to early spring.  The flowers ares nestled within a clump of narrow linear leaves to 18″ high.  Grow in sun to part shade in well drained soil with low to moderate water.  It is quite drought tolerant.  Iridaceae
