‘Mary Barnard’ Iris unguicularis, is an old clone of the winter blooming iris.  It has dark reddish purple flowers in winter to early spring nestled in a clump of linear leaves to 18”. Grow in sun to part shade in well drained soil with low to moderate summer water. Hardy to 0 degrees F.
