Hepatica nobilis v acuta

Hepatica nobilis var acuta is an early season flowering woodland native from Eastern North America and produces lovely white to pastel pink to pastel blue flowers followed by the appearance of a mound of mid-green mottled tri-lobed foliage.  Old leaves may die back or be cut back in early season.  Grow in part to full shade in humus rich soil with moderate water.  Perfect under deciduous trees.  Hardy to -40 degrees F.  Ranunculaceae

Formerly known as Hepatica acutiloba. Botanists are currently debating whether to move both the genus Hepatica and the genus Pulsatilla into the genus Anemone.  More to follow.
