Sierra shooting star, Dodecatheon jeffreyi, has basal rosettes of light green leaves with spikes of bright red ‘shooting star’ flowers in spring. Grow in sun to part shade in well drained, humus rich soil. Keep moist fall through spring, drier during summer dormancy. 15″ x 6″. Hardy to – 20 degrees F. Meadows and streamsides in the mountains of the Western US. Primulaceae
