Dodecatheon dentatum


White shooting star, Dodecatheon dentatum, has basal rosettes of bright green foliage with a toothed leaf margin (ie dentatum) and produces flowering stems to 15″ with several white flowers with a black tip in spring.  Found in moist areas of the Olympic Mountains and Columbia River Gorge eastward into Idaho and northward into British Columbia. Site in partial shade or cool sunny position in moist, well drained soil.  Deciduous.  Hardy to at least -20 degrees F
