Cautleya ‘Shangri-La’

Cautleya Shangri-La 5

Hardy Shade Ginger, Cautleya ‘Shangri-La’, has dark green foliage with dark red color on the backside, making them gorgeous when backlit by the sun.  The spikes of golden flowers also feature red bracts, giving the flowering stalk a two tone look. This plant is not a heat lover and needs to be grown in part to full shade in fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Deciduous.  This plant has been fully hardy in our garden for many years and is hardy to at least 0 degrees F.  Cautleya originate in moist mountain forests of the Himalayas westward into China.  Zingiberaceae
