Begonia sutherlandii or Sutherland Begonia is a charming perennial with trailing stems and green leaves with a distinct red edge. It produces bright orange flowers in late summer to fall. 12 x 12″. In late season, bulbils appear at the leaf axils and these can be lifted or will fall off to form new plants. This deciduous perennial can be grown in a pot and kept completely dry in winter. Grow in partial shade in fertile, moist, very well-drained soil. Hardy to 10 degrees F or lower if mulched. It has been solidly perennial in the dappled sunlight of our well-drained woodland garden.
