Anemone sylvestris

Anenome sylvestris

Snowdrop windflower or snowdrop anemone, Anemone sylvetris, is a vigorous spring flowering perennial 12 -18" tall that spreads by underground rhizomes.  It produces white, cup shaped, fragrant flowers in spring and sometimes again in fall.  Easily grown in part to dappled shade in average garden soil with moderate water.    Given its tendency to spread, avoid planting in areas where it might overtake more delicate plantings.  Works best as a groundcover and allowed to naturalize.  Shear as needed.   Hardy to -30 degrees F.  Native to the Caucuses.  Ranunculaceae
