Anemone lithophila


Alpine Anemone or Little Belt Mountain Thimbleberry, Anemone lithophila, is also known as Anemone drummondii var lithophila.  It is a low growing perennial that forms a compact mound of dark green, dissected foliage and produces upward facing, white, blue tinged flowers on short stems 6 to 8" tall in summer.  Grow in sun to part sun in very gritty, well drained soil or scree.   Found on mountain slopes from Alaska to Wyoming.  Very cold hardy to -40 degrees F.
