Adiantum aleuticum

Western Maidenhair fern, Adiantum aleuticum, has slowly creeping delicate fan-like fronds with black stems and grows 8 -24" high and wide.  It dies back to the ground during the winter months and emerges as pink fiddleheads in spring.  Grow in part to full shade in fertile, moist soil.  Very cold hardy to -40 degrees F.  Pteridaceae
